Good morning - occasionally, in the last few days, when I try to get into the thread that I've been posting upon, it's missing? It's happened twice (thought I was losing my mind the first time) and it appeared about 3 hours later when I checked. And now it's gone again. Are threads sometimes eliminated? Or is it just temporarily missing? Thanks - I enjoy the thread ("What's your symptom?") and check it once a day. Perilisa

Read my message posted three above yours. The reason your posts may have been missing is because we had problems with the site and had to restore the database (which includes all the messages on this board) using a backup made at 1 AM that morning, so that when the board went down around 2 PM, any messages posted between 1 AM and 2 PM would have been lost.

On other rare occasions, topics are eliminated due to someone posting commercial links or looking for love (this isn't a dating site), links to porno sites or messages that look suspicious, such as hackers trying to add a virus to the board -- and some people may reply to them. Topics of this nature are removed along with any of the posts in them. The best thing is to hit the REPORT button in the topic and it will go to the administrators, but NOT to reply to such messages.

Hello Dearest,

I am having trouble logging on to the "what's your symptom" thread. I can't do it from my email links. I get the "fatal error" yellow page message.

Can you suggest anything to fix it?

Thank you so much

Debbie

Has anybody else lost the open up entire thread link that used to be present when posting at the bottom of the page. I can only view the last 10 posts at the moment - you used to be able to open up the whole thread in another window, using this link. Is it just me? (I've installed IE7 recently and this happened the same day).

Ever since, the font also seems to write over itself in some cases - for example when a PM pops up, I cannot read all the text links!

I'm still having this problem where I can't click on "View New Posts" anymore. It is now covered up with a long blue rectangle that has my login info in it. Is anyone else having this problem and do you know how I can fix it?

I'm having to do my searches a different way now. I got spoiled with the View New Posts link.

Thanks~!

Thought it was just my computer. View new topics is way over to the right of my screen. I use firefox and they updated so I assumed this was my problem. --Shelley

Hi Shelley,

I use firefox too! Maybe that's our problem. How do we find out?

Shelley, JBW, I'm having the same problem too, and it started a couple of days ago. I now see the "View New Posts" -- it's way over on the right side -- I have to drag the bar at the bottom of my page way over there. Hmmm... I'm running the latest version of Firefox, I think anyway. What to do, it is a bit inconvenient like it is! Now, I'm going to the bottom of the PS page and clicking on "Today's Active Topics". It brings up the same posts, so I'm fine with that. :)

Hi,

I seem to have lost the "View New Topics" link - it's disappeared from the options at the top of the page.

Is this still available?

Many thanks,

JJ

Sorry for not seeing this sooner, but I've been having major repair work done on my house.

The header was changed about a week ago, but looks perfectly normal in Internet Explorer. The "View New Posts" link is on a second line below the yellow links.

This is what you should see in Internet Explorer:

How Can You Help? Blogs Live Chat Help Search Calendar color>

The line below it should look like this:

Logged in as: Dearest ( Log Out ) My Blog ? My Controls ? View New Posts ? My Assistant ? New Messages

I notice a number of you wrote that you're using Firefox. I prefer Internet Explorer, but I opened Firefox to see what you were talking about and I see what you mean. There IS a large scroll bar at the bottom because the links aren't appearing on the second line as they're configured to and are way over to the right - thus creating the scroll bar. That shouldn't be.

This is one of the problems with Firefox just as it was one of the problems with Netscape every time it upgraded to a new version, which is why I stick to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, all Web browsers don't read HTML code the same.

I'll do my best to correct it in Firefox, but there's no guarantee without changing the entire header on the message board.

I suggest you use Internet Explorer until (and if) I can get it fixed so it looks the same in Firefox without that scroll bar -- and the way all Internet Explorer users should be seeing it.

Thanks, Dearest. I finally realized the other day that I could get the "new messages" button in IE but not in Firefox, which is the browser I usually use. I learned something else from the comparison, though: when you are using instachat in IE, the screen flashes every time someone posts; in Firefox, this doesn't happen. So now I have a new browsing strategy: I use Firefox when I want to chat, and IE when I want to read posts.

Dearest - would you know if the view entire thread link (used to be available at the bottom of page whilst creating a post) has been removed. I can't seem to find it anymore. I use IE7 which i just upgraded to recently, and wondered if this was anything to do with it.

Squiggle,

It's like that whole line where the "View New Posts" link was, has shifted to the right.

Use your blue bar at the bottom of your screen to pan over, and you'll see those links sitting waaaay to the right of where they used to be!

Help! I don't have a blue scroll bar at the bottom of my screen. Help! Am I looking in the right place? (I am using IE7 by the way, not Firefox.)

I can see all the following at the top of the screen - no problem:

My Controls ? View New Posts ? My Assistant ? 0 New Messages

If I pull the favorites bar halfway across the screen, I can create a scroll bar (still no "open entire thread" link at the bottom of the page though). Can anyone else still see this link at the bottom of their screen whilst creating a post?

Hi Squiggle :) ,

I didn't know there was a link to click on which opened the whole thread until you mentioned it. I thought I'd investigate this, and sure enough, at the bottom of the "reply window" page, centered below the last post on that page, I can barely make out the words, "Review the complete topic (launches new window)". The color is pale blue on a light background, so it's hard to see, but by golly, it's there! Look closely, and maybe you'll see it too.

THE PROBLEM IN FIREFOX HAS BEEN RESOLVED!!!!!. You should no longer see any scroll bars at the bottom and have full view of the menu at the top.

Could someone tell me how to use the different posting features. For instance, if I want a different text color I thought I just clicked on the A and color choices would appear. But nothing happens when I click it. I've tried Bold-Italics but when I post a message all I get is the words bold and italics. My post isn't in bold or italics.

I used to know how to do these things, but I guess the old meno brain is playing tricks on me. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Hi dcamp - try highlighting the text first with your mouse before you click on the feature. You have to do this for every feature you want to ue. If you make an error and don't do so then try & correct it, it can result in lost text - so beware!!!

Also for the color palette, it took me ages to realise it is positioned off the top of the screen - couldn't get it to work for ages. Seems like at least you've worked that out so you're quicker than me!

Hey Donna for the color you must type it in yourself

For example above I typed [ color = whatever color you want ] your text here [ / color]

Of course, you'll have to make sure that all the spaces aren't there in the square brackets.

Oh Squiggle I've never seen it up there LOL Thanks I've been doing it the other way all along :D

i'LL TRY IT NOW. IF IT WORKS---THANKS

{color=red}Trying again. {/color}

Well this stinks! I don't know how to do it. :o

DCamp, these need to be the square brackets, not the curly ones i.e. this [ not {

If you do the same thing you did, but with the square brackets (my square brackets are just the lower case version of the curly ones on the keyboard) it will work fine.
