Guys - I can help I think as I had this problem too ever since I installed IE8. I can't get into the chatroom either with internet explorer. It seems Java has problems with IE8. In the end I found if I installed Firefox, I could get in - so that's what i would recommend.

MaryME - I think due to a load of spambot trouble earlier in the year on the site, I believe certain things are disabled for new posters, the ability to send PMs being one of them. (It was confirmed this is the case by MaryO earlier in this thread - see posts 467/ 468) Once you have posted a certain number of times (I don't know how many) you should find you will be able to do this.

RE your friend - if she is still getting the driver error message, then it may be she has an old copy of the PS page in her browser and needs to 1) empty it out and 2) set it to look for updated pages.

Kath, I'm in the Uk, I didn't have any problems today, however, i did last week when the site was down. I've been coming here for a few years now and the site does does down occasionally (often due to hackers or site updates) but it always comes back again. Driver error is usually the message you get when it happens. Just try again later. There is a temporary board http://www.quicktopic.com/33/H/NDHffQWfq3HVW if the site is down for a long time.

This is the latest spambot to target the site. I wonder whether some sort of vetting could be put on new members for now or whether that would be too much of an overhead depending on how many we get per day. Or maybe limit the number of posts they can make in a day or something so they cannot get through the x posts to be able to PM limit. I noticed the spammer last night managed to repeatedly post the aaaaaaaaa message several times a minute despite the repeat post flood control having being upped to once every 60 secs recently. Wonder how it's getting through that.

Only a guess Nancy but it might be that due to the number of spam-bots around recently that some boards are only allowing PMs from those members with a certain number of posts. Might explain why todays spambot intrusion has created several posts saying aaaaaaaa before it started to try and PM people. This is only a guess but i have read about other boards doing this.

Hi Jonie, I did load Firefox once (before I wiped my pc and started again), but I didn't like it. For one thing it created a completely separate bunch of file directories from IE7 that need to be emptied from time to time and I couldn't find an easy way of doing it. (Probably just me - I expect it's there somewhere). Anyway, with IE7, I just go tools, internet options, delete and all history, cache files etc etc can be easily deleted. I am wondering whether active X has something to do with my problem and the errors on page message

Hi Greenie - It's at the very top of the PS page (in the middle, next to the PS Message Board Header). The box to the right of it that starts Meno Survival Tips doesn't work for me either.

Could this be an active X issue? I am on the default setting for IE7 security and it says that "unsigned active X controls will not be downloaded".

The Quick links above, and those in the adjacent box are still not working for me. Does anybody else have this issue? All the other links on this page and other pages work just fine. If I scroll over the Quick links with my mouse, the URLs don't appear like with the other links. I've emptied my cache etc several times since I noticed this problem. I can pull down the Quick link box to get the full list, it's just the links themselves that don't work. Really Strange! I'm on IE7. Arla and Juliann - have you tried entering via Google and then re-bookmarking (re-saving to favorites) the site's web-page to overwrite any boopkmark that you had before? It's just a thought - it might help?

Hi again, With the links above not working, as I mentioned yesterday, I tried to google power surge gallery to find a way in instead. I came up with the address: www.power-surge.com/gallery/psgallery.htm and when I clicked on it, my antivirus told me a virus had been detected and removed. I clicked on it a couple more times and got the same thing each time. The virus it detected was trojan.js.redirector.f. Thought I should let you know. Hi Just wanted to let you know that the links within the "Power Surge Quick links" box at the top of the page and the other links box to the RHS of that don't appear to be working. Not sure if this is a known problem

Poor Dearest - computers are a real bug-bear - it must be so frustrating for you to redo all that work like that. (On a far smaller scale than yours, I know, I have been struggling to rebuild my pc software from scratch over the weekend (I needed to get my pc working urgently for my son's schoolwork) - it's taken me the whole weekend, days and late evenings) and I have had similar frustrations with my technical support not being there too this weekend so I can sympathise with those feelings! ) {{{Hugs}}} to you!
