Firefox is the name of the internet browser you must be using. Other choices are Internet Explorer, Netscape, AOL's own browser, Ppera, Safari and probably others.

I'm not sure why the avatars should show in one browser and not another, though. If you're not seeing the new ones, you could contact us at: http://www.power-sur.../contactUs.php3 for more help.

Thank you sberz69.......I don't know that much about computers either.

Thank you MaryO....I use Internet Explorer. I have no idea why I can't get them to show up. Does it have anything to do with java? Please don't laugh....I truly don't know that much about computers. tongue.gif

Same here TOTS , I rate my computer knowledge at about 0!!! Java? Isn't that coffee???? Just kidding. Actually I use a computer all day long for Washington State Dept of Licensing, but it's all set and ready to go. The computer I'm on now is a pc we have in the office to use when we are not busy. It's msn with internet explorer, but like I told you, my part-time co-worker put in Firefox so I could actually see avatars!!!! Hopefully Mary O's reply helped you. If not let me know, my part time worker will be here Friday. What I think is BEAUTIFUL is Mary O's signature!!! THANKS MaryO for trying to help us. U R GRRRRREAT!!! Shelley

Tots, it shouldn't have anything to do with Java. That's for interactive things like the chatroom.

Do you know that there are 3 (last I looked) sets of avatars? One is called Base Gallery, another is IPB COmmunity Pack and one is Smiley Avatars.

Click on the little "down arrow" (looks like a "v") to see the galleries. Highlight the one you want to look at, then click the "Go" button. You'll see images from that chosen gallery.

To see another gallery, just choose again from that list. When you see an avatar you want, click the little circle near it and click Use Selected Avatar.

Thanks again MaryO for your help.....I truly appreciate it. I've been to all 3 galleries. I just checked them again.....in the Base Gallery..20 avatars show up this time. In the IPB Community Pack..5 showed up and in the Smiley Avatars...none of those show up.

I didn't know whether I needed to download something in order to see them. I've never had a problem before. I think it might be time for a new computer. This one is nearly 10 years old.

Thanks again MaryO and you too sberz!!

Hey TOTS!! That was what was happening to me too. On base gallery I had only about 10-20 avatars showing on the other 2 galleries I had nothing. My computer is pretty old too., but like I said my co-worker hooked me up with what is called Mozilla Firefox thru msn and now all the avatars show up. REALLY NEAT!!!!!!!!!!!! Shelley

I know this is rather an old topic for me to be posting in. I just cannot find an avatar that I am satisfied with. That is why I change avatars all the time. Could you find a whole tree or an antlered Elk? The ones you have just don't suit my tastes.

You would go into your signature control panel and click the button for inserting an image. You would the choose the url of a very small image you have stored on your web space and copy then paste it in the box that pops up.

I general don't like 'girly' things or human avatars. Most of the avatars are just that. Or they are things like wolves, or exotic animals. I just want a nice whole tree or a beautiful deer with a nice rack.

I just put the sort of image I like in my sig. That will have to do since they don't have one in the gallery wink.gif

Now how you put one in your sig. First you open your signature control panel. Then you click the little button with the sunrise on it.
A dialog box will pop up. Then you open another browser window. You set that browser window on your web space where you have your images stored. It is very important you have the image you want to use stored there. I recommend Photobucket. You copy the URL and paste it in the dialog box. Make sure the URL is in the format http//:img form not smg. Otherwise it won't work.

Hya Deb
Yes it would appear that our chat room.....our Nutbar is down. Pssstttt....it is all booboolena's fault....the police came when she sang with the karoke players.....apparently some neighbours complainned....put that cat out of her misery tongue.gif She was busted for disturbin' the peace....NIK! laugh.gif

In the meantime, I am sure that Dearest and VJ are working hard to put chat back together again. Chat uses a different server than the boards, so luckily we can still post smile.gif
Cheers

So glad you like the additional avatars.

Anyone who wants to change her/his avatar can do so by simply clicking on My Controls on the menu at the top of the board. Then, on the left side under Personal Profile, click on Edit Avatar Settomgs. Use the drop-down menu to look through the various libraries.

Dearest

I don't see "my controls" anywhere, everytime I go to my settings,I can't do anything.
I'm confused.

Dearest wrote that in 2006 when we had the old board.
Since the upgrade fairly recently, the avatars are no more. The board is totally different now. We can only upload an image to our profile which also shows by the side of our posts where the avatar used to be.
'Tis a shame-I used to like the old avatars..... :(

Hope that helps

janet c

IP boards no longer offers a predefined avatar scheme. That avatar now runs off the profile picture. To get an image by your name you upload a profile pic 200 x 200 pixels or larger--but not too large. The owners would have a purchase a different brand of platform for the board to have a predefined avatar setup again. They probably wouldn't be able to get the same set either, as most of them were from manga and anime cartoons, many of which are now defunct.
