Does anyone use the live chat rooms? If so when are they most active?

In my experience, Live Chat is not used often right now. However, Dearest does have guest "speakers" and live chat is used. There are many of us who use insta-chat down at the bottom of the main screen. There's frequently a group in the evening but there is often someone around at any time. You're welcome to join us!

The live "regular" chat room hasn't been used as much as it used to. After 12 years of regular guest chats, I had to take a breather from them due to my mother's situation and my own health issues.
When I wasn't running back and forth to co-caregive my mother, I was running to doctors. At the same time, even my posting on the board was reduced greatly.

In short, I was simply exhausted. I was hoping to resume the guest chats this Fall or Winter, but we shall see. Putting together weekly or even bi-monthly guest chats involves a great deal of preparation. It doesn't just "happen" by itself.

There's a Transcript Library with hundreds of guest chat transcripts. Just scroll through the list to see which guest / subject interests you.

The chat room is still there for anyone who wishes to use it 24 /7.

Hi Kelli

My name is Debbie, I live in Bolton UK and have decided to come on this site to talk with people who maybe are going through same as me. I am going through the perimenopause and experiencing some really bad anxiety attacks, which are starting to have an affect on my daily life. Im always scared and thinking the worse but the worse thing is not being able to get away from your own thoughts. My moods are upside down, as is everything else. Is anyone else going through this right now.

Hi,

My name is Linda..Have been researching BioIdentical hormones for about 4 weeks now. I am 52. Don't want to take the synthetic hormones. Need to make a decision...Not sleeping at all, the sweats are killing me?
I would appreciate any feedback from someone on how the BioIdenticals are working for you. Any side effects?
Thanks

I would say that the bioidentical hormones has saved me, I've been on it for almost 3 years, along with numerous supplements that support my adrenals. I am slowly reducing the amount every year with the help of my doctor and so far so good. I too had insomnia problems and many other symptoms, keep in mind that it will take a few months to adjust and the bioidenticals will not take away all your symptoms but it will make thing bearable for you.

I suggest you also go to the topic that discusses bioidentical hormones and read the other ladies' comments.

I am under the care of an excellent Naturopath and she prescribes the bioidentical hormones.

Hi Debbie,
I'd love to talk with you about what's going on. Anxiety attacks are normal, so try and not be scared by them. They do get better. My biggest problem now is Nausea and feeling "not normal." I just can't concentrate and my moods change constantly. Each day is so different. A study in trying to make it through another 24 hours of "Heck." MY whole family, four kids and hubbie, suffer too. I am also wondering if it's possible to take these message board chats to a new level of support by sharing e-mail addresses with one or two people. These boards are kind of hit and miss. What do you think?

Take care,
Rose

Hi Rose,

You can send a private message to a member with whom you would like to speak. If she also would like to talk with you, she can PM you back and I believe you can exchange email addresses that way.

I'm not quite sure how this chat rooom works ...it's a little different then some that I have been in. My name is Saraluna and I got a call from my doc today....actually it was her nurse that said my blood work showed I was nearing menopause. What the heck does "nearing menopause mean? Does that mean perimenopause...does that mean I'm past peri? I'm 48 years old and I guess you could kind of call me a wierdo because this news saddend me deeply. I haven't had a period since January (by the way I gone that long before throughout my life) but now I'm afraid I won't have another one. You know I've always liked my period, ever since I started at 14. It's always bee a sign to me of my womanhood and that everything is working the way it should. I want to stop this from happening so soon. Is that even possible? Has anyone else done this? My doc wants me to start taking yaz....will that bring my period back? or will it just make me fat? Or will it actually help stop this process that I actually see as a beginning of the last phase of my life. Am I insane or does somebody understand? I'm very sad.

Hi Debbie, I feel the same way; right now. Scared and nothing I can do helps. Sometimes it's better. Now I just feel fear and anger. You're right about not being able to get away from your own thoughts; it just goes round and round. I feel so helpless and have enough of all these emotions controlling me. I hate it. Hard to cope.

I am not sure how these chats work either, but it si sure reassuring to know that I am not hte only one going through these sudden mood changes and the anxiety, heart racing and the insomnia. I have been put on Lexapro rescently, but I am not sure if it is going to work. Doctors dont seem to know what to do to make things right with us. You would think in these days and times that somthing could be done to help woman through this. any one out there with a miracle cure? I am 44 and my hormones came up normal, but I have been having oto many periods latley and last year at this time I was skipping a lot in a row. My mother was through by 45 so even if the doctors say My hormones are normal I think they are boucing back and forth. anyone in the same banana boat as me?
I would also like to give my email out and that way i could talk with others on a regular basis at our own time with out the confusionSarah

I heard this something called PM; personal messages but I don't know how they work. I just read some other chats yesterday which helped. It is scary and hard. The dreams get to me; they are all so intense and I should go back to sleep now but feel scared and don't want more of the same; if I stay up, I will be tired all day. I did exercise once last week and that helps but when I'm so tired, it's hard to just function never mind exercise. I have gained 10 to 15 pounds and that bothers me. You can get a saliva test done and that shows the level of your hormones; if they are low or high etc. What is Lexapro? Doctors aren't really trained in this area, I think.

If you're logged in, you can always scroll down to the bottom of the screen to use Insta-Chat. Only registered members who are logged in can access the Insta-Chat AND the Main Chat Room.

Regarding problems with the main chat room and for those who don't know how to send PM's (personal messages) and use the features on this message board, there's a specific forum for NEW MEMBERS called New Members: Read First. I strongly suggest you read the New Member Information: Read First.

It will explain everything you need to know about the above features plus how to use the message board.

If you don't wish to read the entire message, scroll through and look at the emboldened yellow titles for the subject you're interested in.

If you have any other questions, you can always ask at: the Contact Us Page. If it involves the message board, be sure to include your registered User Name.

Hi Sarah, My name is Sharon and this is the first time I've been on this site so I'm hoping my message makes it to you. I am so beyond frustrated right now....I too, have been having those awful anxiety attacks, I cannot sleep more than 4 hours a night and the worst problem I'm having right now is the heart racing attacks I get while I'm sleeping. They really only happen at night time or when I'm extremely anxious. I wanted to find out if you are experiencing the same nighttime heart racing or tachycardia attacks. I am 43 years old and I think I am starting into this perimenopause phase. Can you tell me what you do to handle these awful attacks if you are experiencing them at nighttime? Last night was just awful....I woke up to my heart racing like 200 beats a minute...it lasted for a few minutes until I somehow got myself calmed down.....this has been a nightly occurence for about 3 months now and I've already been to the doctor for an EKG and a holter monitor....everything seems normal but if this is normal....I want out. This is not fun at all. Thanks for any input you can offer.

Hope you're doing better these days.
Sharon

hi,
my name is patti and i'm 44(i can't beleive i said that !) and after talking with my doc at last years annual pap exam we discussed perimenopausal symptoms and she said that there are literally thousands of symptons that we women complain of during this fantastic "period" of our lives.
i told her of the many bizarre things that i've been experiencing since turning 40 and she just nodded her head and smirked and said "it'll get worse before it gets better". not the answer i was looking for but i'm sure she hears it every 10 minutes for nine hours a day, five days a week.
she states that "we" have to find the most tolerable median that works the best for me/us. so she never really gave any answer just a thumbs up and a "**** it up you'll get through it" look.
so great,
i haven't really found any thing that helps with the physical symptoms but i have found that the OTC estrogen(the herbal tablet) really helps with jitteriness, foggy head, tears all the time feelings i get the 10 days before i actually start my period.
the physical symptoms-geez-a new one pops up every other month!
i never really had cramps but now i have double over in pain stomach cramps, i get canker sores along my gum lines(i can barely brush my teeth some days), swollen ankles, achy armpits, achy elbows, my knees hurt, my hair hurts to brush!, the back pain and now i'm blessed with an extremely sore woo-ha!! it's hurts to pee, it kills me to wipe, and just putting on underwear some days sends me through the roof! i have no discharge, "no smells" eminating from down there and of course the day my period starts all these symptoms go away! i never thought i'd look forward to actually having my period start. i have also found that i am EXTREMELY sensitive to different pads(never could wear a tampon). if i use the same brand of maxi pad 2 months in a row i feel as if i have to walk with a hanger between my legs!!!
does any one have any of problems?? i hurt my ankle in the fall and was given tylenol 3 for pain. it also coincided with my great barrage of the month symptons. wow-i can't remember a better period-EVER!!
but i cannot take those once a month-according to my doctor(i asked!)...
so what other things can i try???
